Is Rev 5:11-14 Worship or Obeisance?
by JCISGOD98 ini asked a jw last week the following question, "is revelation 5:11-14 a worship act to the lamb or an act of obeisance?.
revelation 5:11-14 nwt states and i saw, and i heard a voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, and the number of them was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: the lamb that was slaughtered is worthy to receive the power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.
because it's an act of worship and it is not allow in your kingdom hall.

A thought about the "imperfect men" excuse for false teachings.
by WontLeave inin researching and writing this, a thought occurred to me.... has anyone ever asked this: if the society is "the faithful and discreet slave" of mat 24, they have been given authority over all of christ's belongings (including the people), are spirit-led and god's sole means of communication, and are entrusted with revealing "food at the proper time", why are they held to a lower standard than the "other sheep"?.
if they blatantly violate scripture, if they make false prophecies, if they reverse their decisions repeatedly, if they go way beyond what is written, if they hold a position for years or decades which is obviously and finally admitted to be false, they are given a total pass as "imperfect men" and "not infallible".
meanwhile, if you or i have a belief jws feel is "wrong" - we're not spirit-directed mouthpieces of god - why are we "apostates"?

Great post WontLeave...That is exactly right...the people who are shepherding the flock should be held responsible and answerable becasue they put themselves in that position. If they find they continue to be incorrect in their teachings, they need to be humble enough to acknowledge it and stand down due to lack of insight and inability to lead properly.
With authority comes power...and with power comes responsibility. This also means they should be held accountable for their actions and decisions. Maybe if they were they wouldn't be so flippant with peoples lives.

EducatingMyself I don't know that you are being shunned per se. I threw a lot of apostate ideas at them before I discontinued my study. Trust me, it had become verrrrry uncomfortable and unpleasant for everyone involved.
But I did make it clear that I really liked them on a personal level. But did not want to discuss watchtower teachings any longer. So I figure if they continue to visit me I will take it as a social call.
Blondie....I agree that the chances are pretty high that they are still counting time...But that is their problem. In the meantime it is still lovely to see them and hopefully they enjoyed the visit too. (just a bonus for them if they can count it).
Shunning me would have no effect and would be quite pointless...how would it possibly teach me anything....they have nothing I want and I have nothing to loose.
I dare say this would be the same for most studies. So it would take them to a whole new level of stupidity if they were to use shunning on studies as a way to "make them see the errors of their ways"
